Yes, we charge both taxes!

No, we do not get to make this up on our own. We don't get this question a lot but here is the short answer in case you have ever wondered. We promise we wouldn't charge you more money than necessary.


Unfortunately the provincial guidelines tell us that sharpening services are subject to both GST and PST. All of this information can be found with a google search; be sure to specify wherever you are to get the current information for your location. In my own words I have summarized for you:


Sharpening services fall under the same category as seamstresses. Essentially; yes we are providing a service, but because we are taking the item and changing it, it now becomes a new item and gets taxed as such.
